Zone-count conflict. The opening-ceremony recap says three new zones. The What's Next panel recap names four: Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, Riverglades, and Zephras Isle. Both are first-party sources, and Blizzard has not explained the difference.

Confirmed route anchors

The published material gives checkpoints, not an ordered 1-to-60 route:

  • Zephras Isle: Skyborne's level 1-12 starting experience. The Battle.net page says Skyborne access requires the Heroic Pack or a higher edition.
  • Riverglades: A mid-30s-to-mid-40s zone with more than 150 new quests.
  • Mount Hyjal: Follows Archimonde's defeat and includes Darkwhisper Gorge; no level range is published.
  • Shen'dralas: Between Mulgore and Desolace, tied to Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul, and centaur tribes; no level range is published.

The newer Found Photos Panel Recap adds route anchors rather than a fixed route: Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, a Menethil-Southshore-Auberdine route, and a Steamwheedle Cartel path from Tanaris toward Riverglades. It also describes starting-area NPCs, quests, profession hooks, and recipes, plus added Wetlands and Desolace content and a Shen'dralas story south of Desolace through the Valley of Bones. These are announced/planned links, not a complete 1-to-60 itinerary.

Riverglades quest-count conflict

The earlier What's Next recap says Riverglades covers the mid-30s to mid-40s and has more than 150 new quests. The later Found Photos recap calls it mid-level and says nearly 200 quests for Horde and Alliance. Blizzard has not clarified whether the figures have different scopes or reflect a revision, so this guide does not collapse them into one number.

The panel recap also says rewards come from leveling, dungeons, exploration, social play, and group challenges. With no scaling or flying, do not assume a zone adjusts to your level or that flight bypasses its ground route.

Leveling recovery, combat, and Legacy perks

Blizzard's Deep Dive Panel Recap and official @Warcraft updates detail key mechanics supporting the leveling journey:

  • Outdoor Resting: Placing a Basic Campfire establishes a campsite where players can sit to unwind and gain rested XP status directly in the wild, alongside repairs and profession utility (official Campfire short).
  • Crafted Food XP Buffs: Most crafted food recipes in the Cooking overhaul grant combat stat increases plus a small experience bonus while leveling.
  • Legacy System Progression: Leveling alts, exploring, and completing challenges earn account-wide Legacy Points that unlock perks, including faster rested XP accumulation, an increased rested XP cap, and reduced campfire cooldowns (official Legacy short).
  • Tactical Combat Pacing: Solo combat is paced at roughly 10 to 15 seconds per mob. Dungeoneering requires tactical planning and dedicated crowd control, with tanks managing pulls of roughly 3 to 4 targets rather than mass AoE pulling (official combat post).
  • Leveling Gear & Talents: Spellcaster weapons provide spell damage and healing starting at level 10, bonus healing adds one-third damage to assist healer solo questing, and single-point milestone talent choices occur at levels 11, 16, 21, and 31.

Evidence gaps

While campfire resting, food XP bonuses, and Legacy perks are confirmed, Blizzard has not published numeric level-by-level XP curves, mathematical dungeon mob XP formulas, or a complete quest database, tracker, or walkthrough. There is therefore no first-party basis for an XP calculator, best-farm route, or XP-glitch claim. It also has not published a full list of expanded original zones.

The beta roadmap does not say whether characters carry over, copy, or wipe. A Reddit summary reports a quest-helper toggle, but no Blizzard source confirms it. Treat third-party numbers and features as unverified until Blizzard publishes the underlying rules.
