Choosing a class as a beginner
Choose the job you want first, then check race access. In the Classic baseline, Warrior, Paladin, and Druid can tank; Paladin, Priest, Shaman, and Druid can heal; all nine classes can deal DPS.
This is not a WoW Forever best-class ranking: complete talent trees and release tuning remain unpublished for most classes. Use a class link for its evidence and the races guide for race-first decisions.
Meta expectations and raid composition
There is no official WoW Forever tier list. In community analysis, Ben (.khalma) views revised kits and retail-inspired spells as making Forever play like a completely different game from Classic. Rather than a fixed launch ranking, Ben expects the strongest classes to shift by phase and raid. He doubts the 20 to 25 warrior stacking common in original Classic will persist, pointing to Blizzard's stated goal that every class and specialization should be viable in raids. Blizzard's Deep Dive panel recap corroborates the underlying design intent that all 27 talent trees should function in group content with baseline raid buffs, but exact release tuning and raid balance remain unverified.
Confirmed, planned, and unknown
Confirmed: Blizzard has officially confirmed six new race/class combinations—Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin (also referred to as Forsaken Paladin)—alongside Skyborne pairings. Combat pacing emphasizes deliberate 10–15 second creature kills; dungeons require tactical crowd control (Polymorph, Banish, Fear, Root) and threat management; spell, melee, and ranged hit and critical strike chances are unified across roles; weapon skill offers less rating per item; bonus healing includes one-third bonus damage; talent trees retain 7 rows with milestone choices at 11, 16, 21, and 31 points; and key raid buffs (Blessing of Kings, Divine Spirit, Improved Mark of the Wild) become baseline.
Planned: the official roadmap lists two unnamed class/race combinations for Spring 2027; timing may change.
Still unknown: the complete race/class matrix beyond the confirmed pairings and Skyborne; full talent trees and spell kits for the remaining eight classes; and exact release balance tuning.
There is no evidence-backed best class or tier list yet. Pick a baseline role you enjoy, then verify whether your pairing is confirmed, reported, or unknown.
