What Blizzard has confirmed
In the Deep Dive Panel Recap, Blizzard revealed full details for the Camping system:
- The Basic Campfire: Camping expands the simple Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire. Placing a campfire creates an open-world campsite where adventurers can pause and rest.
- Campsite amenities: Players who sit by the fire for a few moments gain rested status, access to vendors, repairs, profession workspaces, and one-hour buffs. It also serves as the natural hub to refresh food buffs.
- Crafted object limits: A Basic Campfire allows up to three special crafted objects to be added by nearby players. Each player can place one object, and those objects share a one-hour cooldown.
- Profession contributions: Every profession receives three different campsite objects learned at different skill tiers:
- Blacksmiths: Can place a Sharpening Wheel that increases Attack Power.
- Tailors: Can place a Faction Banner that increases Spirit.
- Herbalists: Can place an Incense Candle that increases Intellect.
- Alchemists: Can place an Alchemy Lab workspace.
- Leatherworkers: Can place a Tanning Rack required for advanced recipes.
- Cooks: Can learn upgraded Campfires allowing five or 10 objects to be placed.
- Class buff interactions: Stat buffs provided by campsite objects are variants of, and do not stack with, buffs normally granted by specific classes.
- Progression and Blueprints: Players learn their first campsite objects at skill level 20, either from special camping-introduction NPCs or profession trainers. More advanced objects come from Blueprint recipes dropping from specific dungeon bosses.
- Legacy system integration: An official Legacy short confirms that account-wide Legacy progression includes perks such as reduced campfire cooldowns.
What is still unknown
- Complete campsite object lists and buff assignments for remaining professions (such as Engineering, Enchanting, Mining, or Skinning).
- Campfire duration, despawn timers, persistence when the creator logs off, and territory restrictions in hostile or contested territory.
- Complete roster of camping introduction NPCs and dungeon bosses that drop Blueprint recipes.
- Whether Camping is enabled in the September 17 beta.
